A Spanish Air Europa plane carrying 162 passengers and crew skidded off the runway on landing Friday at Paris Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, but no one was hurt in the incident, police told AFP.
The jet, which flew in from Valencia on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, landed at around 9:20 pm (2020 GMT). Police said it was not immediately clear why the aircraft left the runway.
A spokesman for the firemen said the plane “landed normally before it got stuck in the grass as it entered a taxiway”.
A passenger and airport operator ADP told AFP that the passengers and crew were stuck on the aircraft till they could finally be evacuated at 12:30 am Saturday (2330 GMT Friday).
Passengers were told that the plane could not be towed as vehicles risked getting stuck in the rain-soaked ground.
“The landing was normal, the plane slowed down and then we felt it sliding,” said the passenger.
